We tasted some of the Greek dishes, salads and deserts, again we tried to keep it "vegies only". Then we had few dishes of desserts like "baklava", "loukmades", "kadaifi" and "apple pie".
"Baklava" same in Turkish, looks same but the taste is a little bit different . Wikipedia says "Baklava (Ottoman Turkish: باقلوا) is a rich, sweet pastry made of layers of phyllo dough filled with chopped nuts and sweetened with syrup or honey. "
"Loukoumades" spelled as "Lokma" in Turkish, looks same but Turkish version is smaller and less sweet. Wikipedia says "Loukoumades (Greek), lokma (Turkish) are a kind of fried-dough pastry made of deep fried dough soaked in sugar syrup or honey and cinnamon, and sometimes sprinkled with sesame."
"Kadaifi" spelled as "Kadayif" in Turkish, looks and tastes different, but same kinda recipe. It is almost same as Knafe, but In Turkey, only kadayif pastry (shredded pastry; called "wire kadayif") is used for making künefe. Kadayif is not rolled around the cheese. Cheese is put in between two layers of wire kadayif. It is cooked in small copper plates, served very hot in syrup with clotted cream kaymak and pistachios or walnuts.
The best part of the night was obviously the (Syrtaki) Zorba Dance show. It started at 9 pm and it was full of energy, color, and passion. Greeks and Turks share lots of things in common, food, music and culture of both nations is very similar.
